Project Overview.
This Beaumaris project involved the transformation of an existing pool room into a large-scale wellness space designed for daily use by an active family. The brief was clear from the outset: create a premium sauna that could comfortably accommodate multiple users, heat rapidly, and deliver an exceptional sauna experience without compromise.
To achieve this, we extended and reconfigured the existing space, creating a generous 3.5m x 3.0m sauna capable of comfortably hosting large groups while maintaining excellent heat distribution and comfort. The design centres around a double-tier L-shaped seating layout, maximising capacity while creating a strong architectural presence within the room.
Throughout the interior, we used Accoya Grey, selected for its rich, moody appearance, exceptional durability, and dimensional stability. A custom-made Accoya Grey door complements the interior, creating a cohesive and refined aesthetic throughout the space.
One of the defining features of the project is the custom-engineered floating bench system. Constructed from heavy-duty powder-coated steel, the benches appear to float effortlessly within the room while providing outstanding strength and longevity. The seating extends seamlessly back to the walls, creating generous lounging areas and reinforcing the clean architectural lines of the sauna.
A large double-glazed tinted glass panel and matching glazed door connect the sauna to the surrounding pool area while maintaining excellent thermal performance. Carefully concealed LED lighting is integrated throughout the space, highlighting the floating bench design and creating a warm, ambient atmosphere during evening use.
Given the scale of the room and the family’s desire for an authentic high-heat sauna experience, we specified a premium Saunum Luxury heater complete with advanced air circulation technology, automatic steam functionality, and full Wi-Fi control. The result is exceptional heat distribution, rapid heat-up times, and a noticeably more comfortable sauna experience compared to conventional systems.
Additional features include integrated Bluetooth audio, allowing the family to enjoy music while using the sauna, further enhancing the overall wellness experience.
Located alongside the home’s pool, ice bath, and outdoor shower, the finished sauna has become the centrepiece of a complete recovery and wellness zone. The transformation has turned a previously underutilised space into a highly functional retreat designed for relaxation, recovery, and connection.
For our team, the standout feature of this project is undoubtedly the floating steel bench system.
