A custom infrared sauna designed for daily wellness use in Brighton, VIC Completed 20 June 2026
Brighton began with a simple brief: create something bold, contemporary and “funky” a sauna that would be the centrepiece of a home and used every day as part of the client’s wellness and gym routine. Working to that brief we delivered a highly customised infrared sauna that balances striking visual design with exceptional comfort and practical performance.
Sited within a compact footprint (1.5 m x 2.1 m, 2.1 m high), the cabin is fully lined in raw Aspen for a light, natural palette that amplifies the clean geometry of the joinery. The most notable feature is the boxed bench system with ergonomically curved seating: custom-contoured benches designed for prolonged comfort and a strong, linear aesthetic. The slatted timber screens conceal and protect the heat sources while adding texture and depth to the interior.
Heat is supplied by recessed Havia infrared panels positioned for even coverage and user comfort. The panels are integrated behind the slatted screens to preserve sightlines and maintain the pared-back interior. Lighting was specified as a central design element — custom RGB illumination runs around the ceiling perimeter, under the benches and behind the slatted screens. All lighting is programmable from the client’s remote, allowing dynamic colour scenes to match mood or routine. A Bluetooth speaker system was incorporated for audio, and a custom double‑glazed window provides a visual connection to the surrounding space while maintaining thermal and acoustic performance.
The project presented significant logistics challenges: the site had very constrained access and the house remained occupied throughout construction. Extensive protection works were carried out to safeguard finishes and valuables, and the installation was coordinated carefully to minimise disruption. Despite these constraints the build was completed smoothly and on programme.
The result is a contemporary, purpose-built infrared sauna that fulfills the client’s brief: a striking, functional wellness space used daily. Brighton Beach 2 combines bespoke joinery, considered material selection and modern controls to deliver a personalised sauna experience tailored to daily routines — an ideal example of custom infrared saunas for Brighton homes and bespoke wellness suites across Melbourne’s bayside suburbs.
