Project Overview.

Project Highton involved the construction of a custom outdoor sauna designed to complement the client’s pool area while making the most of a challenging sloping site. Positioned high on the property with views overlooking the pool and surrounding landscape, the sauna was carefully planned to create a private wellness retreat without compromising the available outdoor space.

The client’s goal was to create a high-performance sauna that could be enjoyed regularly for relaxation, recovery, and overall wellbeing. As an active family with a strong focus on health and longevity, they wanted a premium sauna experience that would become a natural part of their daily routine.

Based on our Horizon design, the sauna combines clean architectural lines with a carefully selected material palette. The exterior is finished in Monument, creating a bold and contemporary appearance, while the interior is lined entirely in Accoya Natural. The warm timber tones provide a striking contrast against the darker exterior, creating a refined and timeless aesthetic. An Accoya Grey decking platform completes the space and ties the sauna seamlessly into the surrounding pool area.

Measuring approximately 2.2m x 2.4m, the sauna was prefabricated in our workshop before being transported to site and craned into position. Building the sauna within our controlled factory environment allowed for exceptional quality control and a streamlined installation process. Despite the site’s steep terrain and limited access, the delivery and installation proceeded smoothly and according to plan.

Inside, the sauna features floating two-tier Accoya bench seating, integrated backrests, and concealed LED lighting beneath the benches and within the backrests. The result is a clean, modern interior that feels warm, inviting, and highly functional.

A large double-glazed glass frontage frames views across the pool and surrounding landscape while maintaining excellent thermal performance. The expansive glazing enhances the connection between the sauna and the outdoor environment, creating a unique and relaxing setting for each session.

Heating is provided by a premium Harvia Virta heater with Wi-Fi control, allowing the client to preheat and manage the sauna remotely. Combined with the insulated structure and carefully considered design, the sauna delivers rapid heat-up times and an authentic high-heat sauna experience.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was seeing how seamlessly the finished sauna integrated into a site that initially presented several challenges. Through careful planning, factory construction, and a coordinated installation process, we were able to deliver a premium wellness space that exceeded the client’s expectations.

The project was completed smoothly, on schedule, and with an outstanding result. The finished sauna has become a standout feature within the backyard and a space the family can enjoy for many years to come.
